Pump Up The Volume

It doesn’t matter how “rock star” your cut is – you can’t have rock-star hair unless you can pump up the volume. And if your hair is weighed down by major product buildup, there’s no way you’ll get it to live up to its big, bouncy, amped-up potential! Product overload is easy to spot: strands will feel waxy or greasy or clump together. The culprit? Over-using stylers (mousse, hairspray, leave-ins) and not shampooing thoroughly or regularly.

Good thing it’s easy to prevent overloaded locks! Try shampooing twice – once to get rid of buildup, and again to actually cleanse your hair. After a double-shampoo, moisturizing is key – but instead of loading up on heavy masks and moisturizing treatments, apply a light conditioner to the bottom three-fourths of hair.

Need a sexy, volume-boosting style in a flash? Tousle your tresses with a textured ‘do (stay away from stick-straight styles –- they draw attention to flat locks). Loose curls or beachy waves plump up your hair and draw the eye away from overloaded roots. To do, wrap two-inch sections of hair around a one-inch curling iron barrel, hold for five seconds, and release. Also, the shorter the haircut, the fuller your hair looks. Think pixie cuts, and bobs or lobs with blunt ends. Face-framing layers also give weighed-down hair much-needed shape and body.

If you’ve never tried highlights, now’s the time to experiment -- color woven throughout creates the illusion of depth and thickness, making limp hair look bountiful.

An un-cute side effect of major residue is that your hair gets weighed down and becomes limp, listless. For a regimen that thoroughly rids hair of buildup while also adding body, try Pantene Pro-V Volume Collection. The Shampoo and Conditioner work with the Root Lifting Spray Gel, which has a collagen-inspired plumping effect. Hello, twenty-four hours of lush bounciness!
