Argan oil benefits for hair

Your hair naturally contains oil within its fibres, helping to give your hair natural flexibility and strength. However, these are lost over time thanks to external factors, like the weather or beauty habits, like heat styling and colouring. Similarly, your scalp produces natural oils called sebum to help protect the hair from the outside.

Oils like argan oil can add smoothness and shine to your hair to help replenish some of those oils that are lost. The fact that this ingredient is so easily absorbable means your hair will really quench its thirst when applying argan oil.

If you have dry hair, the good news is that your hair will really soak up this ingredient, as moisture fills gaps in the hair’s structure caused by damage. Read more in our guide to how moisture helps dry hair to better understand this process, and keep an eye out for products containing argan oil if you know your hair is really craving moisture.

Argan oil for dry, frizzy hair

Dry hair is more likely to absorb water from the environment, which in turn causes it to grow in size and out of shape, leaving you with hair that’s ‘poofy’ and frizzy. The solution? Ensure your hair’s well moisturised before you step foot out of the house.

Our PANTENE PRO-V ARGAN INFUSED OIL ensures hair reaps the benefits of this moisturising ingredient while giving it a boost of healthy vitamins, like vitamin B5 and amino acids. By blending Moroccan argan oil with our signature Pro-V complex, we’ve developed a formula that supports healthy-looking hair and smooths signs of damage. The benefits of argan oil for hair is that it’s the perfect antidote to this dry, frizzy hair problems, smoothing the surface of strands and delivering the extra moisture it needs. It’s particularly great at softening dry and straggly ends to transform them into a glossy and sleek mane. Thirsty strands will soak it right up with no greasy residue left behind, and it’s a great detangler – think 24 hours of the smoothness and shine you crave for your style.

Argan oil for curly hair

Curly hair types are naturally drier, because of the individual structure of strands - this makes argan oil one of its best friends in the haircare department. The curves and bends in its shape mean that your hair’s natural oils have a trickier time making their way down the hair shaft from your scalp. The result? Hair that’s naturally a bit on the dry side, especially at the tips. Dry curls tend to lack definition and this can cause frizz – the good news is that dry oil can really help you regain definition.

Apply our PANTENE PRO-V ARGAN INFUSED OIL, concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends of your curls. This can really help to bring back that lost moisture and give curls back the definition they once had. Keep it with you at all times to reapply on the go, and over time you’ll notice the difference in hydration and manageability.

How to use argan oil

The good news with our dry oils is that they can be applied on damp or dry hair that’s been styled. Result! In the first instance, make sure your hair is definitely damp rather than soaking wet – use a microfibre towel or cotton t-shirt to draw water from your hair gently and quickly. Follow our quick steps below and you’ll be the master of your hair oil:

Step 1: Dispense 1-2 pumps of argan oil into your fingers.

Step 2: Rub your hands together to warm the oil up a little. This will make it easier to work with when you distribute through your hair.

Step 3: Working your way from top to bottom, massage your oil into the mid lengths of your hair and go down towards the ends. This downward motion will help to seal your cuticles and promote smoothness. Concentrate more on the very ends of your hair, as these are the oldest parts of your hair that will have accumulated the most damage or dryness over time.

Top tip: Avoid the roots and scalp, as the oil is more likely to sit in your hair and give off a greasy look. Not what you want, especially if you’ve just washed your hair!

Step 4: If your hair is damp, apply heat protection spray and blow dry as usual. If it’s dry and styled, you’re ready for the day!
