Smooth and straight hair with a silky touch?

Answer

The way that conditioners work is to deposit ingredients onto the hair fibre - which can help improve the appearance, texture and behaviour of the hair fibre. With modern conditioning ingredients the products do not form a "coating" on the hair fibre, rather small particles of the conditioning active agents deposit at certain parts of the hair fibre where they are needed - for example, silicones have been shown to deposit around the cuticle edges, whereas fatty alcohols deposit in cracks on the cuticle surface. And this is actually what enables the conditioners to achieve what you want them to do: putting your hair into better condition.
Silicones are known as one of the most effective conditioning ingredients today and are part of many high quality conditioners. Pantene was one of the first brands to develop conditioners with silicones many years ago and has introduced several upgrades over the years. The silicones that Pantene contains today are listed on pack as dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane or dimethicone copolyol. They help protect the hair and are designed especially for haircare. Of course they are safe and non-toxic. That silicones weigh your hair down or make it less receptive to hair colourants is at least for today’s conditioner’s a myth: Lightweight conditioners (for instance Pantene’s Full & Thick or Sheer Volume ranges) help protect hair with the right conditioning properties and at the same time avoid weighing it down.
The important thing is to make sure that you use a conditioner that is suitable for your hair type - this is especially true if you have finer hair, or if you are trying to create volume. Even in these cases it's important to use a conditioner, as much of what we do to create volume can be damaging for the hair. However if you use a suitable conditioner (such as Pantene Sheer Volume), you can get the best of both worlds - the protection that your hair needs and the appearance of volume you desire.
The most important thing when choosing hair care products is to make sure that the products are suitable for your end goal. If you're trying to achieve volume, the products you will need to use will be very different from the products you will need to use if you are trying to define a curl or create a smooth and sleek look. Choosing the right products will make sure that you get the right level of conditioning and protection for your hair and also achieve your desired end look. It is a myth that intensive treatments can only be used rarely. The fact is that it really depends on your hair type - if you have very damaged hair, you may want to use an intensive every other time you wash your hair; whereas if you have less damaged hair you may only want to use an intensive product every other week.
When it comes to styling products, certain product types are more suitable for certain styles. Mousse for example is great for creating volume - as the mousse foam will help to create lift at the roots, which is then locked in place. Gels and waxes are great for creating more texturised styles, and are much easier to target specific places on the hair. Hairsprays are great for fixing the style once it is in place and can be used as the finishing step in many styles. Pantene Pro-V Radiant Colour provides a good basic level of care for people who colour their hair. The products in the Colour Expressions range are designed as a range of premium care products using new technologies to provide superior care to improve the condition and appearance of coloured hair. Pantene Colour Expressions works by helping to ensure that your hair is in excellent condition so that the vibrancy or radiant look of your hair colour is enhanced. The range contains a number of conditioning ingredients that help to bring out the shine and multi-dimensional radiance of hair. If your hair is in the best condition then it will also help it to hold on to your hair colour radiance better. It is gentle enough to be used every day, specially designed to condition hair but contains no colour. Whilst designed for the needs of colourant consumers, the appearance of natural hair colour is also dependant on the condition of the hair surface. For this reason there is no issue with using it on natural hair colour or even grey hair. One of the best ways to keep your colour is to ensure your hair is in its best condition. The Colour Expressions range not only helps to promote the shine and appearance of the colour but they also ensure the hair is in excellent condition.
This is a myth, colour experts like UK's leading fashion and film colourist Nicola Clarke recommend using colour care shampoos, conditioners and intensive masks (such as Pantene Colour Expressions) both before and after the colouring process: To prepare the hair for colouring and maintain the look of your vibrant colour over time.
YES! We have new and improved formulations across most of the ranges to give you even higher levels of performance than before. We have also updated our pack designs across all ranges both shampoos and conditioners as well as styling products to make it easier for you to find the right product for you. Pantene has just got even better. In particular:
  • Shampoos - We have improved the formulations in most of our shampoo ranges so that they now help to give your hair extra protection whilst wet.
  • Conditioners - Our Conditioners now have higher conditioning formulations across most of the ranges with more targeted conditioning agents that are attracted to the most damaged parts of your hair.
  • Intensive conditioners - Our Intensive conditioners also have a new higher conditioning formula to help provide extra care and nourishment for your hair.
  • Hairsprays - We are introducing a new micro-fine spray system on our hair sprays that sprays smaller particles onto your hair. This will help you to achieve a more flexible styling effect whilst maintaining a strong hold. In addition, you should be able to style your hair more quickly as the smaller particles of hair spray result in quicker drying times.
